“Brent - Why do we call it America Burning, because it was burning! I look at that also too for the people who take all of the privileges of this country and everything that this country gives you by being an American citizen. This is the only country where you can literally burn the flag and not have your head cut off or go to jail”
Americans really have such a delusional idea of how much more "freedom" we have compared to other countries.

I really dig how they talked up how much they were going to say on this album and then did nothing but throw buzzwords into the songs. Such a shame because the instrumentals and actual vocal performance is good, but the lyrics just...ugh.

True, they could've gone further. But unfortunately, I can only give them a 1.5 as opposed to the 1 they were shooting for.

Shinedown was one of the only radio rock type bands that I found entertaining from time to time. Will probably give this a shot sometime at work next week. Also I'm extremely upset about my feelings slowly being cancelled and I feel the lyrics here will hit me directly in the heart. Might cry. Will report back after

They had to know they'd get roasted with this concept and the political lean. Shinedown is one of those weird bands that can seemingly do no wrong for me. Even at their worst I'll always find plenty of redeemable qualities. I blame Brent Smith's vocals - I'm just a sucker for his range/power.

Meh band makes meh album with cringe lyrics. I remember this guy (assuming its the same guy) having a great voice in the Leave a Whisper days. Even that seems to be gone.

It's not necessarily gone, its just flattened out by the mainstream production sheen that is slapped all over their last four records

This Album was the first one in 20 years that was worth listening to the whole thing. Tells a story of the complete shit show this world is becoming. Lyrics are phenomenal. Interludes are awesome, helps guide non Awake people through the album. Great blend of heavy and lighter heartfelt tunes.

Ah yes, Shinedown making music great again!
