Chimera's Wreck is pretty cool. Good album, but it's true, it's Tree on autopilot most of the time

The album is better than the singles might have you believe so that's a nice surprise. Still think wilson is the weak link in the band though.

^ That's an interesting take, seeing as how much influence and creative energy he puts into the overall sound. But if that's what you think, hey.
Also, Chimera's Wreck is such a vibe song. I love the rhythm on it.

Tree on autopilot is still better than like 90% other music so I don’t mind haha
Wilson is the main songwriter, lyricist, singer, guitarist, and bassist so calling him the “weak link” while generally enjoying the album is kind of a weird statement.
Just saying his singing or one aspect like that being a weak link would make more sense.
I think he’s just fine on here, and while it’s a shame Edwin didn’t come back, his bass playing is on fire.

What the fuck is that absolute turd of a vocal delivery after that silky bass solo in "Dignity"? That shit made me laugh so hard.

Sooo coming back from a first impression, i'm afraid this will not stick with me very long. I genuinely appreciate all the details and i think the keys and percussion elements are great. The blues and middle eastern influences match immaculately with their current sound. It's either the songs feel very safe due to missing certain hook-aesthetics, or are littered with too many ideas that make the song feel like striving away from it's basic idea. It's very multiple personality disorder for me lmao.

I think Harridan is the best with that sexy bass line

Harridan is cool but Dignity or Chimeras Wreck is my favorite. Unless counting the bonus tracks, then it’d be one of the last two.

The positive comments give me hope for this

I was incredibly surprised by how good this album was. I gave all the singles a listen and they didn't necessarily blow me a way at the time but, hearing all of them as part of a completed package, it's a really incredible album from front to back. Typically there's always at least one song on a PT record that I find boring and usually skip or zone out on, but I genuinely didn't get that feeling this time around. I'm probably going to be listening to this record for a while and I'm curious if it's magic is going to wear off or just grow stronger.

Dignity is really good, album is solid in general.
Better than the Incident, at least.

not sure I agree

A welcome return but I prefer/preferred the Incident on the first few listens.
I think this might be better than In Absentia though.

This is around the same level as IA/The Incident for sure (aka the who cares tier of their discog)

Very necessary output though.
Absorb it, enjoy it then listen to Forgotten Sons by Marillion and shit yourselves.

This thing sorely lacks Colin Edwin's touch and I can't get over it, his bass is what made this band click for me in a different way. It added so much depth (yikes) and much needed humanity to the often lifeless lyrical themes, hopefully I won't notice this on repeated listens. In any case, the album is at least excellent just because these guys are incapable of making anything less than that

I’m going for a 3.7 and a quarter.
