Amen, Ashtiel. There really is a lot to like here.
Also, if someone’s gonna neg me I’d like to know why, please. If I’m doing something wrong/poorly, I’d like to get better.

This also reminds of the latest Contortionist's album on some songs...

Yeah, it's whatever. Glad you're enjoying it, Ecnalzen. Do you have any favorite songs so far? I was listening through again today and that scream in "Phantom Pain" just hits perfectly.

eh, don’t take negs to heart, if it’s genuinely a bad review then people will give feedback
ghost negs suck but they don’t mean anything

Yeah, the well written review thing is an old feature that most users don't really care for but it has always just stuck around. If you get to contrib and higher status, it's not even an option on your reviews anymore
Really, just kinda loved the whole thing so far. I don't recall anything in particular standing above the rest, but I also don't remember hearing anything and being like, 'oh, that did not work' either. Probs gonna run through it again today at some point

Cool, cool. My bad, didn’t mean to take away from album-specific discussion. Moving on!

This is such a weird review to ghost neg too. It’s usually the negative reviews that get negged by diehard fans

So it's finally settling in for me just how amazing this record is. It's a huge beast but feels coherent and purposeful all the time, and these guys have really started to find their own sound. Huge huge step up from their debut IMO and they deserve all the respect for being able to pull this off in an album with such a long runtime.
Gather Your Bones might be my song of the year so far.

I need to actually sit and go through this whole thing eventually

Managed to get through this in one sitting. While Deftones-like alt-metal isn't my thing, this album is really, really good. Chaotic, yet coherent. Loud and aggressive, but at the same time melodic and emotional. The production is high quality as well. Not much stuck with me in terms of catchiness, but like Ecnalzen, I feel like nothing here was off either.
A big step up from Ancient Geometry. These guys have plenty of ambition and the chops to pull it off. Very interesting review too. Kudos!

Yeah the production makes this feel massive, in a way. I preferred it over the debut with only one listen but I'll definitely keep it in rotation for a while.

One of the things I really like about the singing is when Berezansky refuses to resolve a note and it just trails off, creating dissonance like at the end of the first chorus on "Dryspit." It reminds me of something Oceansize did at the end of "One Out of None".

There’s some tasteful auto-tune in use here which somewhat enhances the vocal lines the way rap artists do
Listen to Gather Your Bones in particular and hear what I mean, the auto-tune adds to the dreaminess

Definitely can hear the Oceansize comparison in the vocals, and someone else alluded to some passages that are similar to The Contortionist which I also agree wth, especially on songs like Twisting of the Points. They've really opened themselves up to way more influences than just Deftones and Thrice, and it's really paid off.
The only (admittedly petty) gripe I have with this record is the art, not really a fan.

This album is an incredible achievement. Not often that double albums warrant their runtime but this absolutely does. Might just have to 5 this at some point in the future, it's amazing.

Yeah, I wasn't a fan of the art initially. I can't really think of what I'd rather see as a cover though and conceptually, it's fitting and provocative. I'm inclined to give them a pass because of their self-produced/self-released constraints.

Pretty sure the thing on the cover is a real keyboard that pro gamers use to get an edge on the competition

On one hand, I'm really happy to have two hours of new Vexes, on the other hand, I feel like this is a lot to take in. Could take a while before being able to really grasp it entirely and give a proper rating.

really dug the general sound of this and it kinda flew by for a nearly 2-hour listen but I can't help but wish the overall songwriting was sticker. couldn't name many standout moments if I tried. vocalist's tone and melodies are kinda indistinguishable from a lot of the recent deftones-core inspired bands as of late too
solid review tho
