I'm not contesting

I remember TJM from back in the day lol, their vocalist was super divisive.

wouldn't say deathcore's been dead, there's fit for an autopsy and they're fucking baller
|
| |
I should rephrase; it is creatively stagnant.
Bands like those can be fun but they're ultimately offering nothing particularly exciting. Genre peaked with Exoplanet.

I could agree it's creatively stagnant if stuff like Exoplanet was made in fucking 2010 and still not even matched, much less surpassed
Ovid's Withering was another nice band, but apparently the mastermind liked soliciting foot pics too much and not sure what became of them
The only hope are bands who play other genres who just decide to use some deathcore tropes. So kinda like dunno, Assemble the Chariots maybe? Ascariasis? Check out the list of best deathcore albums on rateyourmusic, pretty sure you'll find something creative

Ascariasis unfortunately came back as a second rate post metal band. Dead end there, it seems.
And yeah, I feel like most of the current dxc champions are close to being outside the genre entirely (ex. Slice the Cake and Shadow of Intent) and have more in common with melodeath/death metal.
I still try to check deathcore sporadically, but I just don't think it's going anywhere and most bands are just sort of... spinning the wheel. And that's great for those that love the sound (Carnifex will endure until the heat death of the universe), but I feel like there was promise in the genre that perhaps never got uncovered.

Bands with talented musicians who start out as deathcore eventually come to the realization that they are too good for the genre.

Slice the Cake is a dead band too, they couldn't agree on some shit and split up
Ovdi is probably also not particularly active, though they did release something again recently
Shadow of Intent are going on strong, but like MarsKid said, they're shedding their deathcore trappings - which is a good thing too

Yeah, if you disregard the sensitive boy lyrics about love 'n shit, they were a sweet band

Wither and Bloom could have been integrated better, or maybe it would have been more fitting to release a separate album in the style of those tracks like Loathe did a bit ago, cause on this album it kinda halts the pace of things randomly (love them individually, doesn't fit in the album). They certainly have a lot of potential to take their sound to new heights with the inclusion of the softer bits with heavy in a cohesive fashion, but I honestly have no idea how they would do that, the styles are so different.

Nice review!
"Wither and Bloom could have been integrated better"
They should've been the outro song imo. Anyways cool album, I like it.
Favorite song: What I Would Give
