It's getting a weird reception that's for sure, but if anything this is way better than Swansong and that snoozefest EP they dropped last year.

"Been really enjoying this album. Ten songs and no duds in my opinion, just a solid, fun collection of songs. Honestly surprised by average but oh well."2

@DatsNotDaMetulz
Thanks for the feedback. I myself had doubts about it since there has been contradictory intel coming out, including a press release from the label stating that Tom was part of the recordings (or at least that's how I interpreted it). I'll try to clarify through official channels before I edit the sentence.

probs gonna have to give this a couple more spins. first impression was "carsass is as carcass does". enjoyable but forgettable, not much that stood out.

Rev is on point, except I don't agree the two final are average by any means.
Kelly's Meat Emporium is prob my fave here, although I do love Flesh Ripping Sonic Torment Limited as well, among others.

I'm afraid those two tracks didn't do much for me, especially 'Wake Up and Smell the Carcass...'. 'The Devil Rides Out', 'Flesh Ripping Torment Limited' e 'Kelly's Meat Emporium' are my favorites. 'In God We Trust' is also surprisingly interesting.

As someone not very well acquainted on these embryonic bands, I'm having a lot of fun when they do these kind of mature af works. This one is so playful and joyful and kinda rockish. So cool and songwriting is on point and full of hooks.

"'The Devil Rides Out', 'Flesh Ripping Torment Limited' e 'Kelly's Meat Emporium" hell yeah that trio is awesome. The opening track is also top-tier here.

Yeah, the opener is cool. I also love Eleanor Rigor Mortis's slow-paced groovy verse.

There is no such thing as playing it safe? Have you ever heard Surgical Steel? That album was the epitome of playing it safe!!

Is that compliment?

This isn't bad and I wasn't necessarily expecting them to do anything new, but listening to this feels exactly like I'm listening to Heartwork or Surgical Steel again.

I think at least(!) sound-wise its pretty different from Surgical.

Truly boring lp. No ecstatic moment , not even a Swansong was so bad . As an old fan i think that the old boys should take their time to make "ratatouille" not music . I was just nostalgic , but truly bored ....

Kelly's Meat Emporium would like a talk. Maybe you're not a fan at all, but just old.

"it's like an entire album of no love lost"
If only, I loved that song. This is underwhelming at best.
"Next time, I'll be waiting for something meatier."
Meat hasn't been on the menu for almost 3 decades.

It sounds nothing like no love lost.
I was also never the biggest fan of NLL, but really enjoying this new one.

This was such a fun record. I enjoy it more with each spin!

@DDD: No, that was not meant as a compliment... Carcass apparently and little surprisingly are on the typical metal band late career auto pilot phase. Doing what worked best during their past, not adding anything and making listening to new albums superfluous.

I didn't expect them to invent the wheel at this point, neither they nor 99% of bands (metal or otherwise) with over a thirty-year career. Yet, if they wanted to play it safe they would have dropped a Surgical Steel 2.0, which is not the case.
"Meat hasn't been on the menu for almost 3 decades."
Surgical Steel has some meat and potatoes but without the raw flavor of times past.
