And before any of the miserable plebeian hecklers incite me to listen to this horrendous cacophony, I should like to add that I have already reduced the album to shivers with a mallet.

Joanna is a pretty good singer, but I found this album so unbearably boring that I couldn't even make it through the entire thing. The music was weak and it sounded like some medieval fairytale being sung to me. I did not like that at all. Maybe with some better music behind that voice, she'd be able to make something I would be into, but this was bad.

I have been told by people with no sense that there are certain groups of facial structures in women. I will quote the "non-sensical";) First you have "cherubs." Round cheeks, angelic features, usually a button nose. Then you have "birds", thin faces, longish noses, etc. I think their are a few others, but then you come to "elves." Elvish features and all that. Sorry, I don't have the time to give examples of the other types, but you get the point. Its just like when people say that everyone looks like an animal. My best friend looks similar to a cocteau. I have another friend who looks like a frog, an attractive frog Some people you can't place. My wife tells me I have a thing for "elves" (she is a "cherub"). The majority of my ex-girlfriends were pixielike. Whatever.
Her first record was good, sort of. Now she is becoming a REAL elf. Hobbit Land, here she comes. This album sounds very old world, like trolls are hiding behind the rocks and archery and apples and big trees. This just bores the fuck out of me. Sorry to take so long to get to _that_, but she fucking drags on her stories too fucking long trying to make them "renaissance epics." *Yawn*

Well most on here seem to like this…to me it sounds like Bjork telling stories and every so often getting a sudden surprise and remembering that she is suddenly supposed to sing.
Lyrically it may as well be in Cambodian for all the sense it makes to me…another example of the sort of artists such as Polar Bear and Animal Collective who make a living out of the fact that there will always be the arty sorts who feel they have some sort of intellectual superiority over the plebs by pretending that 1) They like this sort of shit and 2) pretending that ‘oh it’s easy to understand man’….Before going home taking their weird clothes off, lying on the bed and slipping something more accessible into their sound system such as their favourite UB40 album.
Total shite only partially redeemed by some ‘nice’ orchestral work, although even this is mostly over the top with a ridiculous amount of layers.

Oddly enough I think that's the weakest song, although it's still great. Only skin is always worth a listen. Literally always.

I do like UB40's cover of "I'll be your baby tonight" with Robert Palmer, probably trumps every artsy song ever written tbf

Also, Sawdust and Diamonds is my personal least favorite, but that really doesn't mean a thing when it's still so damn good like the rest of the album
