What the hell happened to these guys ? I hate nationalism
I mean they've always had a soft spot for their country of origin, and Erdogan and Aliyev fucking suck hairy balls, but it's questionable to see them come back for the sake of supporting Amernia's... war effort? Like, framing their side of the war as humanitarian. Hearing Serj repeat "petro-oligarchic dictatorship" a few times sounded like he was reading a propaganda script. Didn't sound genuine. Off-putting

Thank you. Tbh both sides in that war are fuckin' stupid.

the Violet Cold guy lives in Azerbaijan and said both sides are fucked and I see no reason no to doubt him on that point.

protect the land seems like something a middle school band would release

humanoids is a great song. protect the land is, wow, astonishingly bad. so they came back with a banger and a dud

I didn't even know they released this. Everything after "Steal This Album" has sucked. I went and bought "Mezmorize" the day it came out on CD when I was in 9th grade. Biggest disappoint of any album I have ever bought.

| |
Yeah after 10,000 days by Tool, Mesmerise is my biggest disappointment ever. Question is the only good song on it.
|
| |
I didn't mind 10,000 days, it's definitely their worst album, but the radio was playing the singles so frequently I just got tired of it. But yea after Mezmorize I never even bothered listening to Hypnotize. I know bands evolve and shit, I just feel like, and I'm not sure what it is, they lost something that made them so uniquely bad ass.

Hypnotise is like Mesmerise but worse, you made the right call.

I love Protect the land but I'm a bit middle of the road on Genocidal Humanoidz.

It's the opposite for me. I listened to Genocidal Humanoidz a lot but haven't really listened to Protect the Land since it's release.

Only just listened to this. Protect the Land indeed does sound rather half-assed and anemic, but the blast beat section in humanoidz definitely took me by surprise. And yeah, even though they've technically done blasts in the past, it still feels like a first, probably due to the black metall-ish sounding riffs.
Damn, when I read about the "artistic differences" between Serj and Daron preventing them from agreeing on the sound for a potential next album, I always wonder who's the more metal-oriented one. My bets are on Serj

It's actually Daron. I'm pretty sure he said Marduk is one of his favorite bands at some point
|
| |
Wow I had no idea they released new music in the last 12 or so years

welcome to this corner of the simulation, storm

Genocidal Humanoids is pretty fucking dope actually. Reminds me of Mezmerize/Hypnotize era system which I think is underrated. Protect the land is meh tho.
