This album is very Jhonny but this time also pretty good
Now why isn't this on music apps, besides bandcamp?

Vennart is probably making a stand against streaming sites, because he receives little to no money from them. He retweets a lot from Phil Elverum who is VERY anti-Spotify.

It sucks cause I cause I could 4.5 this with comfy respins and perhaps fall in love with their sound xD
|

yeah it's pretty inconvenient to have to leave a bandcamp tab open to listen to it or w/e. But hey if they really get no money from putting it other places then I guess I can respect it

yesterday I stopped being able to replay it/skip it...I'll honestly bump this down if I can't listen to this without buying it.

"good music is interchangeable" - a streaming user

All I am saying is that I can agree with some of the position...but in the end its their lost, cause their music won't reach as many as it could...making more and more ppl to watch their concerts, follow, like, namedrop, hashtag etc...

good music is interchangeable yes...incredible music isn't, but almost...

if you don't draw clear lines between good albums and other good albums, imma have to put a fat ol' b e t on whether you draw them accurately between good albums and incredible albums
"cause their music won't reach as many as it could...making more and more ppl to watch their concerts, follow, like, namedrop, hashtag etc..."
this is mostly irrelevant because it did reach you regardless + most of these options are entirely open to you, but you made the choice to prioritise your preferred streaming service over them

...I remember when streaming music for free was an act of rebellion...bands got tired being sucked to the bone from the labels, not to mention how expensive it was for the consumer buying CDs. Now the paradigm has changed a bit and artists adapt. Yet if you consider what was once a rebellion, was now swallowed by the system, keeping the bands poor in labels benefit, the paradigm is the pre much the same lol

Also I couldn t afford to buy 200 ouputs per year...so these sort of positions will eventually loose...I'll try hard not 3.5 it though.
PS: I'd gladly jam this many times on bandcamp without buying popups...as I do with many artists...this is just pissing me off X)

I downloaded this album in the mp3 format for 8 euros and listen to it in my default music player on the phone. It doesn't take long to switch between the apps, not longer than changing albums in Spotify!

"yesterday I stopped being able to replay it/skip it...I'll honestly bump this down if I can't listen to this without buying it."
I'm sure Vennart will be gutted.

I think both sides have a bit of an argument, but of course it's ultimately the band's choice.
Not everyone can afford to buy a bunch of music every year so certainly if it's pay-only it's going to reach less listeners. Just comes down to whether the band cares more about up-front money or long-term money. I thought at this point it had been more or less been proven that reaching more users by being free eventually pays for itself because you sell more merch/more people show up at shows/etc. etc. but maybe that's not always true.

They must be! I m tired of this shit...aren t you all?
Btw this album is awesome....fuckin mature stuff! Super sleuth and Mourning on the Range are my faves. But the real sign of maturity comes on tracks Elemental and Lancelot...whenevver he s reaching to more emotional/lame/korny groundings the vocalist always turns it around with the coolest inputs...it s still growing.
Also a cool thing, since I ve mentioned bands that started by streaming music for free as an act pf rebellion, there s a late Arctic Monkeys bath here and there...(like on the ending of the record f.e.)...also its Cornell's drenched.

Nah, I'm with ya, Deftone. Our restrictions are stupidly inconsistent. In my part of the world we're allowed to pack a sports stadium of well over 50,000. But shows are still out.
