Saw them last night. What a performance. These songs are massive live. Some people on here are saying they could do without the metalcore parts, but the breakdowns live go EXTRA hard when tastefully scattered amongst the atmospheric guitars and soothing vocal melodies.
Bloom were a very nice support band too. Melodic hardcore from Sydney.

Would love to have better production on this, musically it's quite good

@SteakByrnes: Alright here we go...
The main complaint I have with the production is that everything just sounds so washy... The guitars and vocals are very high in the mix, and it sounds like everything just has too much reverb. It doesn't sound cohesive because of that (it seems to me); drums, vocals and guitars all seem to be mixed wildly different, and then just smacked together with a lot of reverb (but the drums didnt get any of this reverb and kinda feel like just being tucked away in a spot far below somewhere...). Bass is non-existant, kinda sad too.
Positive side is how gritty the low guitar riffs sound in a song like Nurture, but that makes the rest sound worse, the drums really lack this huge, gritty production.
Overall the production isn't extremely bad or anything, but I wouldn't really call it good too. If it was better I would for sure like this record a lot more.
To actually answer your question; Get some mids out of the mix, put more treble on certain instruments, make sure the drums have more low end or are just tuned different, give the bass some space, and you would get a more focussed, cohesive production I'd think. Ofcourse there's way more to get into but for that I would have to investigate the production way too much haha

Damn lol nice response. I do think they had an idea of using a lot of reverb to give the album an overall floaty and vibey feel to it which I believe they absolutely nailed. The vocals and guitar are def way up in the mix as opposed to everything else, which I feel is a fault of the style of production used in this vein of metalcore and is definitely a flaw. I'd love to have some bass high in the mix. I do kinda agree with everything you said but I guess it just doesn't bother me enough to where I think it hampers the album

yeah that totally makes sense, I'm sadly way too picky about production, ruins too many albums for me haha

yeah it is annoying how often the drums get totally swallowed up

"yeah it is annoying how often the drums get totally swallowed up" [2]
Yeah, probably the biggest caveat for me. I think the album would've been more powerful/convincing if the drums have been given more space. Still a 5 for me; love this LP to death.
