I’d agree but Part 1 is varied and exciting

What Went Down is their most mature and progressive since TLF though. There are 2-3 heavy songs but the rest is excellent. This double album project is noticeably more mainstream and pop rock sounding compared to everything they've done before, which some really like and that's fine. I personally find more substance and emotional resonance in the vast atmospheres, depth, and post-rock tendencies of TLF.

WWD is my favourite since Total Life Forever for sure, but stylistically I think they're generally pretty homogeneous.

Yay, new Foals! Good review too : )

Honestly, this is kind of decent, not completely sold on it as a style but in comparison to their earlier releases it delivers. With Antidotes I always felt as though they were this bog-standard indie band hidden under a weird veil of faux-intellectualism... now this is just catchy indie, nothing more and nothing less.

From what I heard, I like Antidotes the least.

Call it anti-hipster bias if you like, their debut had me expecting the 2nd coming of 'experimental' Jesus due to the hype it was receiving and what I got was lukewarm, (but admittedly vaguely creative) nothing groundbreaking indie.
I was actually expecting big things myself considering my affinity with Yannis' previous band Youthmovies (or Youthmovie Soundtrack Strategies). So this wasn't just me being a total wazzock.

Back to the .1 reviews I see (;

I trust your opinion here more than with that post-hardcore album you did earlier this week ;]

'this band has never done anything close to as good as antidotes since'
Nah, this is better, although it's possible that the tides of time and circumstances have clouded my judgement. The best thing Yannis ever did was the 'Hurrah' EP with Youthmovie Soundtrack Strategies - which I appear to have screwed up the artwork for.

This band would be incredible with a different vocalist.

disagree, his vocals are awesome and perfect for the slightly ADD rock they make

Yeah tbh I think he’s the most talented member
