I dig Infernus. This one and the first three are my favorites

Monarch, Fury, and Phoenix are my bois. Fury and Monarch helped me get into death metal when i was in high school.
I remember forcing myself through those albums in full. I liked death metal to a degree at that point, but those albums helped me build up a tolerance for relentless pummeling.

Yep, some of the better DM this year.

The last two HE I dig very much. Before that, HE was "meh" or "Immolation and Gorguts do it better". Back when I tried to listen to HE a decade ago I was hooked to Close to a World Below, Here in After and later Majesty and Decay. It's probably just me though. I was also very much into Gorguts and Cryptopsy then... So HE never quite satisfied me back then.
Now I just feel that Infernus and UDS are more mature than Phoenix Rising or I, Monarch (better mid-tempo and majestic parts). They just stand better as a whole and as albums rather than a collection of furious tracks.

Infernus has achieved an interesting stylistic maturity. After that, Erik should have presented something slightly different, in my opinion.

Hate Eternal bears little resemblance to these two bands, don't you think? In the beginnings, the band had more similarities to bands like Cryptopsy, in my opinion. Morbid Angel on steroids.

I guess I just had this impression based on the fact that both Gorguts and Immolation heavily rely on dissonance. HE isn't nearly as dissonant but they were definitely using dissonance more than Cryptopsy. Dunno, never really got that frantic feeling from HE either unlike Cryptopsy or the present record from Vitriol. But I haven't tried too hard either... maybe I should revisit the old HE now that I'm older and more experienced. ^^"
I agree that UDS doesn't bring anything new but that's ok. I can totally do with an Infernus 2.0 because I really loved that album.

If you want to dig deeper into this kind of hyperactive signature, check out the Italian lads Hour of Penance, Fleshgod Apocalypse or Hideous Divinity.

Hour of Penance I've tried a looooong time ago and didn't like it too much. Fleshgod I absolutely abhor, I find their music really pompous. I'll check Hideous Divinity though! In Italian DM (but definitely more tech death) I quite like Unbirth. It's a bit by the numbers sometimes but some riffs are really solid, like on "Crowing at the end of Cosmos"... such a fucking great piece of DM!

Hideous Divinity is a superior version of Hour of Penance imo.

Finally someone name drops Unbirth. Fleshforged Columns of Deceit is one of the best albums I know.

Imo this is one of the only death metal albums ive heard that has a very real, tangible anger to it. Ofc death metal is an aggresive sounding genre but it rarely feels like a genuine, personal rage. Crazy mane

Oh also the riffs on this crush my tiny brain

Watch the guitar playthroughs, its really rare that i see someone with that sort of passion, you can see it on his face. The rage is real. Hes even got a black eye in one of the videos lol.
