man you guys should have warned me.. this is oversaturated distorted trash can banging and warbled directionless autotune with the musicality of a mumble rap album. if the whole album was as good as the opener it would be a 2 or maybe 2.5. I was expecting a decent slick pop album, the production is soo bad. idk what you guys see in this, I should have known this would be bad after checking the glowing pitchfork review. this was not easy to get through. I do like the cover though. darn :/

how do you interpret this as a 5 astral? I'm not being facetious, I'm actually curious of what you enjoy about it. it's not really a groovy album so does it speak to you somehow, hit the feels, you like her singing and production etc?

My approach to music is typically defined by "gut feelings" or whatever. And when I first listened to this, the entire time, I was stunned by this feeling of "this just sounds really fucking cool". On top of that, I have a soft spot for highly computerised/digitised sounds, because I like the aesthetic of digital, computational, inhuman-sounding music. I have a massive weakness for music that dehumanises the artist, and this album sounds entirely robotic, inhuman, and a glorifying take on digital trends and consumerism and whatnot, just that entire digitisation of society. It gives me strong feelings of enjoyment.
Musically it's very pretty a lot of the time, but then it goes fucking hard and insanely dirty sounding on Ponyboy and Faceshopping, where it almost highlights negative feelings of dirty digital music that is very resonant and, again, cool. Nothing in recent memory has given me such a Fonz-like feeling of inimitable coolness.
