Ataraxy's new album was one of the biggest disappointments for me in a loooong time. Their debut is still one of my favorite DM albums, but I've listened to their new one like 10 times and I still don't "get" it. It's boring af.

i mean even just in death metal alone we've gotten a tonne of near-classics

The debut was choc-full of riffs non-stop, I don't feel any of that energy/never even really want to bang my head to it, lol

way more to their debut than just "riffs", it was pretty slow as far as riff pacing was concerned

Either way, I never felt the same kind of energy in any aspect of it, especially in the riffs on the new one, I just get bored and want to shut it off.

Nothing in that albums hits me across the face like lots of parts in the debut, and that's a completely subjective opinion, not at all objective, haha
