man opinions are all over with this record, but then this is a pretty contentious community on this site
going to pick up the record tomorrow and give it a couple nice spins through my beautiful new focals
if it like it as much as any of the other 6 albums i'll be very happy

What can I say? I'm a sucker for good dream pop that gives off that special "drowning in sound" sensation :}

then you should listen to memoryhouse!

Yeah, feeling a big fat 3 on this for now. Not bad but little wows. Last Ride is pretty great though.

Damn Boney sad to see you're so disappointed with it, really hope it grows on you, it's definitely pretty dense

Amazing album indeed. I would say it's on par with Bloom and Teen Dream

this really feels like an homage to different dream pop and shoegaze greats and sounds rooted in the 90s. beach house has such a strong discography and this is definitely up there with their great albums.

I actually think ‘Pay No Mind’ is a really excellent selection for second track. ‘Lemon Glow’ is a little uneventful though, maybe the weakest here.

Is there a chance that I will like this if I found anything else by them boring, or is it more of the same?
|
| |
Nope. I think every Beach House record is a 3/5 and this just confirms their consistency.

This is one of their more animated listens imo

If you’ve never really enjoyed a single song by them then move on - this is the fundamentals of trying music
|
| |
I feel like I'm listening to the wrong album or something. I went through their discography again yesterday and this sounds so weak compared to bloom and depression cherry - even teen dream, which I think is kinda overrated. This sounds so nondescript. It's like they're on autopilot most of the time

I'm the opposite tbh. While the two albums from 2015 felt like they could have spent a little more time in the oven, this feels like a singular, inspired statement

It feels like a rough copy to me. The vocals are washed out, everything is overly hazy. Where are the melodies? The hooks, the beautiful singing? I mean it's here in part, but this is seriously lacking in variety and memorable moments. Not bad to throw on casually but pretty dull to actively listen to
|
| |
First song does nothing but remind me of arcade fire, with a dash of mew. Second track is prob the dullest they've ever sounded. lemon is cool and all but sounds like something that was left off of bloom. L, inconnue is cool but sounds out of place imo. Drunk in la is also pretty good. Almost everything after it is unmemorable tho.

Yeah this will grow hard, not feeling that much on first listen.

Starting to grow on third listen. If I weren’t already a big fan I would have likely given up by now though.
