Really love the production on this thing
Like it's crisp and punchy but it's not glittery and overproduced like a lot of blackgaze-y stuff ends up being

Couldn't agree more. The mastering is on point.

Yeah this is amazing, exactly what I look for in this style
|

Yeah this rules, couldn't agree more about the production.
The vocals especially stand out to me, lots of space but still have bite

Vox were killer, guitars sounded clean and melodic while still being strong enough to barrage the listener with strong riffs. This some quality stuff, goes to show 'blackgaze' isn't just a one-trick pony.
Now we can only hope for Deadwood to bring out that new album already

This album takes the staple elements of blackgaze and expands it into a sign of just what potential the genre has if you really want to push it, instead of just copying Sunbather, or leaning too far towards the black metal or the shoegaze.

As a big fan of the blackgaze sound ("sound" because I'm not super knowledgeable about band names) I never particularly cared for Deafheaven and it's a bit annoying that so many reviews compare new albums to Sunbather. Then again I guess every genre is bound to have its classic albums based on popularity

I really don't dig Deafheaven at all but this is tight. I'm surprised it's had such little attention actually.
