The worst thing is that there's also a Martin-era Sabbat, which is nothing like this. But I hoped for a minute.

lol that was some wishful thinking my friend. How about a Martin-era Sabbat(on)?

It embarrasses me to admit I never heard Sabbaton.

ha that makes two of us!

In my mind it has always been cheesy powermetal. No idea if that's anywhere near the truth.

Egarran - I actually find it quite hard to check any modern, non-'90s power metal unless it sounds like '90s euro-power metal haha.
TheNotrap - Glad you enjoyed the album, dude! Really agree with your soundoff and if you ever have time to check the band's debut, I'm sure you'll enjoy it as well.

I heard the debut this morning, it's slightly more raw and heavy. It rocks.
The Crowning of the Fire King has a more "larger than life" feel, which I like.
The vocals & guitars on this are *****. The best 2017 leads/solos so far.

Some ratings are still missing:
Hans: 4/4.5 - "rocks hard"
KJ - 4 - "the solos are great"
KILL - 3 (depending on the mood) "it's OK"
Sonic - 3 (depending on the mood) "it's OK"
Jethro -... "what the fuck is this? 80's Sabbath???"
Ovrot - 4/4.5 - m/
Willie - 4/4.5 (the accurate rating if he has jammed some hard euro metal back in the days)
Hawks - 3/3.5 - "fuck this is too cheesy but...m/"

TheNotrap spittin' the truth hard and repeatedly! Finding new music with great solos/leads is not easy. People tend to focus on the mighty riff but those sweet leads the stardust that makes a song special.

Indeed manosg, the leads are amazing.

Yeah man, I will digest it for sure. Many outstanding parts....the elements are there
I was never huge on doom for the record.....don't love it, but don't dislike it either

I hear you bro, but this isn't a pure doom release.
Imagine this line-up:
Joe Lynn Turner
John Norum
Leif Edling
Vinny Appice
And let the sound take you to your golden years.
