Yeah I feel like most people dismissed this out of hand after like maybe 2 listens and barely gave it a chance to grow. Oh well, maybe in time this will be (re)discovered.

I can't wait to see these guys with WITTR on their upcoming US tour. It appears they have been playing Obsidian Arc from start to finish live, so I'm definitely looking forward to that.

Idk why people are even tossing flack at it. The songwriting is great and the vibe is a stoney grey slate of naturalistic existentialism. Smh when ppl assume its supposed to sound like the mantle pt ii or something and end up disappointed thats its, heaven forbid.. Something different!

It definitely carries a strong, consistent, atmosphere throughout and the songwriting is great. I did not expect it to sound like Agalloch, but the reality for me is Agalloch will always be in my top favorite bands of all time, and I'm guessing several people share this sentiment. They were brilliant at what they did, and John really set the bar for himself over the years. That being said, I grew to like this a lot more over time. There's a lot of nuances that pop out and gel better after repeat listens. I'm very excited about seeing them in the fall.

Damn, 3.5 avg? This isn't Agalloch. This should be around a 4.

Easily. I don't get why people aren't eating this up. For a site that wanks over Agalloch so hard its pretty surprising. It's like there's an underlying resentment that Haughm is doing something worthwile outside of Agalloch's catalogue
