". . . it's damn near close."

This phrasing is redundant.

Thanks for that. I'll make a note of it.

It's probably just me, but the main riff of Hope Dies Last has a latent Megadeth vibe.

I like Snowfall, Fullness, and to a lesser extent Origins. This one I feel like is hurt by a pretty flat mix. The songwriting also isn't as interesting as Snowfall.

The most enjoyable thing about this is definitely listening to what the guest guitarists bring to the table, which was never the case about those other albums.

My favorite is definitely Snowfall, but this is definitely second. I like the songwriting on this because it isn't totally traditional prog like Origins was. I definitely like the sound on this one more than on the previous release.

Just went back and turned on Snowfall. The difference in songwriting is even bigger than I remembered. Unfortunately I don't think this one holds a candle to it.

I never listened to This Mortal Coil.

This Mortal Coil was their attempt at doing a 'heavy' progressive metal album. The sound is pretty raw for a traditional prog band, and they focused too much on the metal and not enough on anything else. It's still good, but near the bottom of the Alder-fronted albums.

Snowfall is on a level of its own when it comes to this band's discography, so it's almost not fair to compare it to any of their other releases.

I don't like the new album. Evergrey's vocalist doesn't fit this band. I keep hearing Ray on the new songs and thinking about how much better his voice would have fit them.

I only heard a couple of songs from these guys and honestly I don’t remember much, so I can’t compare the vocalists. But I've been jamming the new album these past few days and it has its good moments.

I just hope the new album has more lively production than this.
