Summoning owns.
Interesting review! Pos'd! Easily gonna jam this for the novelty value. Sounds like too much fun.

EDIT: 3 minutes in the first song and I already mostly agree. The synth contrasts so fucking weird with everything. It's like someone took a black metal album and unprofessionaly put synths over it.

Stronhold honestly didn't do much for me. I was expecting to love it since I love Echoes of Battle (in the same way that I expected to love Neurosis since I love Isis).

Summoning takes some patience that's for sure. It took me a while to completely get into them.

Either way they blow this band out of the water.

Nice review. Though, I found the synths weren't really all that distant in tone to the ones used by Caladan Brood. But you gave Echoes of Battle a 4.0, and that album is dripping with cheesy drumming and over-the-top synth work. I'll be honest, Echoes sounds even more cheesy than this. I still prefer Caladan Brood's work over this, but the massive gap in rating between the two albums is a bit extreme.

Caladan Brood doesn't sound like club music though. At least they build a somewhat engaging atmosphere. Agreed that it's still cheesy as hell.
