"am I the only person that thinks ice to never is one of the weakest tracks?"

That's one of my favourites lol.

I'm not sure what I'd label it. Synth pop definitely, but there's just something altogether more satisfying about it.

not if you have any standard whatsoever for lyrical craftsmanship and vocalist versatility, sorry bud. Greg hasn't written a good lyric since Ire Works and he hasn't evolved as a singer in any way whatsoever. On the tracks I heard from this he basically suffered from Chino syndrome where clearly he demonstrates he wants to associate with other brands of music yet displays a complete inability to adapt to other music and instead produces the exact same effect for this as he does for his main project and it just detracts from the music entirely and makes it come offdisingenuous and gimmicky. Fact.

I've never been one to stand back and objectively say that Greg's vocals are the best, but I do feel that his falsetto has evolved on this project - I feel it's a lot more subtle than on say 'Black Bubblegum' or their 'Angel' cover.

I dunno, I just think that if he'd recorded this like 5 years ago it would sound a lot more nasal and whiny than it does on here.

okay but improving on a style that you've been doing for the last decade is natural when its all you do, i still don't think he has evolved as a singer at all though

i WILL give the entire album a fair chance, these are just my thoughts from the first 2 songs i heard

I will say if there's criticism to be made here it's probably that if you don't like the first tracks you've heard from it, there's unlikely to be anything else on the record that changes your mind - but then maybe the record as a whole is a bit more inviting than the odd track.

Horseshit. Compare the dull horse roar of MM's material to the screams in Prancer and the control on Killer's title track, he gets more comfortable and improves on every album. He's done a great job from distancing himself from Dillinger's material here (although that's mainly due to the amount of vocal effects on his voice). What are you expecting? He doesn't have to completely change as a singer.

^that. If you honestly think he hasn't improved since Miss Machine (most of his singing on there is rather bad and cringe inducing at times) to now you're definitely not listening.

And saying he has"chino syndrome" is even more false because greg actually has a much veratile range than chino(who rides the same octave of range forever no matter the key if the music) so your entire argument is based on you not listening or knowing little about singing in general.

The only track reminiscent of chino/deftones i d Apocalypse Morning.

Listen to highway robbery and uneretrofied. Then listen to Dead as history and Mouth if Ghost's. Then listen to parasitic Twins and Goodbye Mona Lisa. Then listen to cross burner, one of us is the killer and understanding deay decay.

Perfect example of the impressive evolution of Greg's singing. It's one thing to not like his singing, and that's fine. Everyone has a preference. But to say stuff like you're saying is completely false and ignorant. You just come off as hating just to hate.

I love Chino and Gregg. I don't care how versatile they are. I think chinos vocals have gotten better with age actually.

This is analogous to Crosses in that we have a good vocalist trying his hand at electronic music, but kind of watering the whole experience down. His vocals are decent, but the music/production is pretty thin. It's definitely enjoyable, but nothing new or exciting.
