Yeah TYHB's standout tracks were really darn impressive despite it's weaker songs being really bad. Melophobia is personally my favorite from them.

They seem to have their own sound on Melophobia that's why I prefer it to the debut

I really do see this as a 4-4.5. Love that Auerbach didn't overstay much in each track, and actually lends some great ad-libs to "Punching Bag." Overall, probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite CTE. I'm a TYHB fan, but not for the sound, but variety. This matches that in variety, maybe even surpasses it, with less tracks.

the variety in TYHB was it's downside honestly. Some of the tracks on it like Indie Kidz or Japanese Buffalo or whatever seemed like they were trying too hard to be "different" that they were just forgettable or obnoxious. The best tracks were the ones that seemed a little more grounded/consistent like Right Before My Eyes, Shake Me Down, 2024, and the like.

pretty much what cl0ver said, and if this matches/surpasses TYHB in terms of that kind of variety, I could easily see this being a 2-2.5(prob a 2)

This is way more boring than TYHB (but I have that album at a 3/3.5 i think). it's consistent, but consistently boring holy hell I hate this album I might drop it to a 2.

I wish this album embraced more of the psyechedellic elements present on the last record. Melophobia was dope, and this, this is more like black keys lite. At least its better than turn blue

Cage The Elephant is one of those bands that have yet to release an amazing/classic record, but damn they'd have a fantastic Greatest Hits album because each album has 2-3 stellar tracks.
