Claudio's explanation of the album in interviews helps give a better understanding of why the songs are stripped down and where he was in his life when they were written, so for what this is it's a solid 4 imo.

But yeah not their best out of all their work for sure.

Well, it's pretty good, but I think I've come to expect better. I think it'll grow on me, but it's probably around 3-3.5

This may be the most dull Coheed album I've ever heard.

Also, this record was recorded live in the studio -- I don't know if that was mentioned before. It adds a lot of sincerity to the album. Not sure where this is at for me yet, though.

"Young Love is inarguably the worst song by far"

Couldn't disagree with this more, one of the better songs imo. Overall this is probably a 4 for me. Its only so high probably as ive always been a fanboy of this band.

I actually think the closer is the worst song on the album.

I dunno, I've only listened to the album once in full so far. My opinion will probably change.

I have been a hard core fan for years. And while the first 3 are untouchable works of art, this album is good. It almost seems like a spin off of coheed. I would say island and atlas are 2 of the best pop songs they've ever made. For about 6 years I wondered why they hadn't made a progressive pop song and with Atlas they now have. Funny thing, i never liked the acoustic version. But album version is flawless.

Hope this grows on me.

Right now it feels like decent song structures held back by bland energy and poor production.

Maybe I'm just getting too old and cynical but this isn't really doing it for me. I've listened to this a few times straight through and am still struggling to remember anything about it. Being a grower is the best I can hope for at this point. Atlas is beautiful though.

Painfully dull. I thought the same of Afterman 1 + 2 for awhile until it clicked and became one of my favourites. I hope this will be the same but I have doubts given the lack of substance after a few listens.

Sometimes bands do these sort of cathartic releases that deviate from their sound that are amazing. Other times they sound like this.

This is definitely a grower in certain aspects but in the end I'd be lying if I said I was impressed with everything. It's definitely better than I expected it to be but isn't too much in here that sticks out.
