Only just hearing this band for the first time in the passed few weeks. I'm a seasoned post hardcore / rock / whatever you label it supporter but these dudes are a cut above the rest. This and Hail the Sun's LP (in recent times) demolish the rest of the field unless anyone can enlighten me?

yeah i would agree with you
i think these guys make far more distinctive songs than DGD does, and their music is taken more seriously which i can respect much more
other bands in the scene def have their fun noodley moments but nothing really stands out to me as much as Stolas, tbh

Not being overly interested in these guys' music is a big indicator for me that my musical tastes are changing. I feel like 24-year-old me would have loved these guys.
