Now that this arrived (finally!) I am in love with it. Good point on the 'dancier' guitar riffs, Darknessca. Best songs in my opinion are:
- Accidents
- "Hey, It's Your Funeral Mama"
- No Transistory
- Sharks and Danger
- White Devil.

alexis are heeuuugge in oz and theyll be here next week so we'll be stoked to see what the boys offer the NCHC crew. i reckon this album is a near perfect mix of melody and experimentation and grows on you like hair during puberty.
also, im pretty certain you northern hemisphere hxc kids havent heard much australian hardcore so check out
Parkway Drive - Smoke em if you Got em (amazing song, best beatdown ever) (EVER!)
I Killed The Prom Queen - Australias best
Mourning Tide - mad ****
The Amity Affliction - they are OOO-core

The only thing I have to say I don't like about this album is that George's distorted screams get quite annoying after a while. But that might be because I've listened to this more than 5 times in 2 days.

I can't believe Alexisonfire isn't gonna try and get big in America. I'm pretty sure they have a pretty big fan base here and I wanna see them play live b/c I'm sure it would be pretty awsome. I love both there cd's though. They both have there ups and downs but I would have to say I like the older one more(more hardcore.)

prom queen are getting distrod by victory now and for them to get that far coming from australia is about as hard simple plan getting on robotic empire.
to all australians, new zealanders, poms, and whatevs cutting it into the US market is big big ****. from your various posts it would seem that your fairly receptive to new bands but try and think outside the us and canada. the scenes that have been built in oz and elsewhere deserve to get a smidgen of recognition. i mostly listen to us and canadian stuff seeing theres such a wide range but i know whats good ####core and whats not, so, knowing what a receptive person you are, ill list a few spec tracks from oz bands that blow the meagre 18million minds that my country has. respect
Parkway Drive - Smoke em if you got em (i know i sed b4 but its a must)
- Emotional Breakdown (and there only 18)
Mourning Tide - Drop of Poison
- Evol
IKTPQ - When Goodbye Means Forever
- Upon a River Sky
but yeah thats bout it. 0004Life

IKTPQ is pretty good. Nothing amazing.

Well, they mostly play songs from the self titled. There's a lot more screaming in those. Well, at least they played more self titled songs at the show I went to a week ago.

the first one was amazing and this is a big step down but although this cd is amazing the drumming on this are so***king complicated.

This was a pretty good review. It's good to see this, especially compared to the terrible review of the self-titled. This is a pretty good CD, but overall... I don't know. They seemed to change their sound way too much over the course of one year. I still like this, but it's much too different than the self-titled, which is my favourite CD. The production is a lot better, but I think they were going for an album that had a bit more mass appeal, and the reason I liked the first album so much was that they wrote it not even thinking of the mass appeal, they were just doing what they liked. This has some pretty good songs on it though, like Hey It's Your Funeral Mama, White Devil, Sharks and Danger, No Transitory, and Happiness by the Kilowatt. 4/5

Nice review, I think No Transitory is one of the best songs from it.

They didn't write it for mainstream appeal. They wrote it as they did because Dallas' singing is better than George's screaming.
The drums really aren't that complicated. Listen to Josh Freese or Danny Carey, or the drummer from the band Cigar. The drums on this are a huge step up from the last album, but they're not that tough at all. (though they're **INTERESTING**. The guy definitely has a unique style, I'll give him that. I like it.)

The first album had some great songs, but it didn't last me very long... It gets boring. The screaming dominates the album way too heavily, and Dallas isn't near as good in that album as he is in Watch Out!. Even if George's screams had been turned down in production of the album, I'd have liked the album more. Watch Out!'s slow songs are kinda boring, but the mid range/faster ones are all insanely well done. Oh, and Control is one of the best songs I've ever heard them play.

Self-Titled, I really found there clash of fast paced licks over a harsh scream made them stand out... If you enjoyed self-titled i'd recommend TragedyEnds (www.purevolume.com/TragedyEnds), they sound alot like aof from the early days

i saw these guys a couple nights ago, they were pretty darn good. best songs live were 'happiness by the kilowatt', 'polaroids of polar bears' and 'control'. They encored with control, it was awesome.
I find this album to be nearly over produced, no doubt it sounds better than self titled, but it nearly goes too far. I like self titled better.

No Transitory could very well be the worst song EVER written

^^No, the worst song ever written would have to be Chick N' Stu by System of a Down.

really....please state why.
For me, the thing that really makes this album is the production. Normally, I'm not a fan of pro-tools, especially when its behind more "punk" sounds. However, the production here really fleshes out a lot of the melodies and soundscapes and more so emphasizes the disparities between the vocals to a really effective degree and overall makes the album a perfectly balanced mix of poppiness, heaviness, and etheralism.
