Ah yep, this is definitely less inconsistent than those two lol although it'd got its share of duds - it's v much a comfort zone album, but when it hits, it hits big for me

Will certainly let you know Doof. This is definitely not better than Crooked Rain and I think I can say I already like it more than Slanted, so Wowee is the one it’ll have to beat. Certainly this is the more my style of the two but even the patchier moments on Wowee ended up growing on me a lot.

"You've been chosen as an extra in the movie adaptation of the sequel to your life" is such an amazing lyric.

Not sure how I can explain this, but I've never jammed this until today. Its odd as Slanted and Crooked are two of my favorite all time records.

I feel this is overlookable, esp given how individually satisfying those two classics are. How'd you find it?

This is great so far. Date with Ikea is a major jam. I already like this way more than Wowee. I dont care for that album aside from like 4 songs.

This is damn solid. Stereo, Shady Lane, Date with Ikea, Embassy Row, Passat Dream, and Starlings of the Slipstream are all great.

Yeah I'm loving this more with each listen. Might have my favorite Pavement lyrics so far. "Shady Lane" is def one of my fave Pavement tracks.
This seems to be the album where their shared lineage with the Silver Jews is most apparent - have David Berman sing here and this could almsot pass as an SJ album.

I have a feeling this will struggle to surpass any of their previous records, but it is an enjoyable listen nonetheless. Very good album in its own right.

"Fin" feels oddly post-rock and I love it

Malkmus sings that line so well, then...”...shady lane...everybody wants one...”

Yeah Malkmus has such great delivery. I don't even like his voice all that much but his singing is often so memorable.
