yeah that's one of the first things i noticed @jrmy. he's really bad at that
this has a couple of ok moments but i can't see myself ever liking it. why is there so much hypetrain i don't get it

Ditto. and the saddest thing is, half the kids that watch him will think he's a passionate revolutionary. Sigh.
I think the hype comes from his lyrics being so easily relatable to the typical broken-hearted angsty scenester, and because the music has like, a few inches of depth, people worship them as being all avant-garde and junk. And because they play Bon Iver in their studio updates. haw

Only listened to the title track, does it get any better?
|
| |
Scratch that, listening to The Hardest Part and now LOLing. And I normally like this kind of thing.
|
| |
This band needs to stop being a thing.
|
| |
It's not that bad.
At least they somewhat try to do something relatively different.
|
| |
Well, at least the album art's cool.
|
| |
Lol, the vocalist looks hilarious. I'm sorry, but people with gauges that huge look so dumb. The nose ring doesn't help, either.

The singer tries too hard to be emotional.

To sum up this album:
"I do dimly perceive that while everything around me is
ever-changing, ever-dying there is, underlying all that
change, a living power that is changeless, that holds all
together, that creates, dissolves, and recreates. That
informing power or spirit is God, and since nothing else
that I see merely through the senses can or will persist,
He alone is. And is this power benevolent or malevolent?
I see it as purely benevolent. For I can see, that in the
midst of death, Life persists, in the midst of untruth,
Truth persists, in the midst of darkness, Light persists.
Hence I gather, that God is Life, Truth, Light, He is
Love. He is the supreme good. But He is no god who merely
satisfies the intellect, if He ever does. God to be God
must rule the heart and transform it. He must express
Himself in every smallest act of His votary. It is proved
not by extraneous evidence, but in the transformed
conduct and character of those who have felt the real
presence of God within. To reject this evidence is to
deny oneself. This realization is preceded by an
immovable faith. He who would, in his own person, test
the fact of God’s presence can do so by a living faith,
and since faith itself cannot be proved by extraneous
evidence, the safest course is to believe in… the law of
Truth and Love. Exercise of faith will be the safest
where there is a clear determination summarily to reject
all that is contrary to Truth and Love. I confess that I
have no argument to convince through reason, faith
transcends reason. All that I can advise is not to
attempt the impossible." –Mahatma Gandhi

Well, I read it.
Doesn't really sum up the album. Like, at all.
But it's a lovely quote regardless.

Lol, I don't think Hep Kat's rating is serious

I really can't stand the vocals on this.

From what I've heard of this album, I really like it. Kind of like throwing Defeater into a blender with Life In Your Way, with more melodic touches. I also think the guy's spoken word stuff is really good, reminds me of Listener.
|
| |
Ugh, Listener. Flame me all you want but that shit is hilariously stupid.
|
| |
The spoken word bits would be better if he didn't completely rip off Listener, ugh.
