Agonist was solid, but this is blowing me away at the moment. Purely as far as riffs go, this is probably the best post-metal album I've listened to since Supercontinent's Vaalbara.

I thought this band was purely instrumental so the clean vocals caught me off guard.

Hyperbolic Forge? lol. thanks for the review though, this made #8 out of 40 on my year end list, amazing album that I wouldn't have known about otherwise.

Agonist is the better of the two but I'm listening to the new one now.

I don't know, they're alright at best. There's just too many bands that do this whole progressive post metal thing better. Irepress, east of the wall, intronaut, I could continue. There are a lot of riffs, but none of them are particularly good.

I think someone recently bumped this on a list and I don’t remember who it was. But thanks whoever you were! The riffs on Vortice of Malady and Shapeshifting are stunning. Metabolic Pathways is like a doomy King Crimson vibe. I’m loving this.

If you like this you may dig the new record from Impure Wilhelmina.
