That would upset a lot of people.
What I really had in mind is two sets the one devoted to the new album and the second devoted to their classics.
I may ask too much though...

That would be cool. Maybe three sets. One of the new album, the middle of just the electro-stuff and the last could be just early nineties. Like 50 minutes per a set or something.

I like your display picture Willie. That's all I have to add.

I'm in love with the classic feel of this.

Gotta say that your avatar is not creepy, but instead awesome.

Great packaging, but the designer who did the booklet layout should really consider the word "diversity". It's pretty much the same fucking thing as Alcest's "Le voyage"

I really don't like the way Paradise Lost have chosen with the last albums. But that's just logical since I love Symbol of Life, One Second and Paradise Lost. But sadly I must pass on this new stuff.

These guys just don't know how to make a bad album.

This has the immediate effect of making each track much less instant and, overall, requires quite a few listens before the album will fully click.
I know PL did this alot on their older albums but really, I couldn't see myself loving anything they've done besides In Requeim. Am I the only one (besides you Willie) who likes that album?
I found this to be sooooooooooo boring. Good job on the review.

In Requiem was excellent, while the new album is a grower.
I found it boring as well the first time i listened to it.

What do you consider so good about In requiem? I'm curious because if I want fine guitar work I tune Draconian Times and if I want electro I tune One second.

Willie says it best here:
and In Requiem blend the electro stuff with more of a metal edge

I think this applies more to Symbol of Life, tho.
In Requiem was mostly an alternative metal album in the vein of Disturbed in terms of accessibility with ofc the always present doom elements.
The songwriting is definitely tighter on Tragic Idol than on Faith Divides. I just wish they kept amazing atmosphere.

@Wizard, no 'In Requiem' is probably my fave PL album, or the one I tend to listen to the most and I've been listening to them since 1994.
But really the only album of theirs (not counting the first couple of death/doom discs) that I find a quite weak is 'Believe In Nothing' but it has its moments too. 'Host' is awesome even if its not metal.

In Requiem/Faith Divides were the best of the recent "return to roots" phase. I liked the more progressive elements in "Faith" and Requiem had some awesome riffing. The new one just seems dull so far...Single wasn't very impressive TBH...not too thrilled about this album.

Theories from Another World is absolutely magnificent. If I had to pick a standout track that would definitely be it.

Was wondering when the dude with the big ass Paradise Lost avatar was going to show up ;)

If you liked In Requiem try the bonus track Ending Through Changes. It sounds like it was a leftover from that era.
