So I gotta check this out clearly if Davey gave it such praise.

My mother of all people asked me about this band the other day, apparently some guy at her work was playing it and she liked it. I'm not sure if that should horrify me or get me even more interested. She's kind of out of date with anything musical post-70s. I'll give this a shot though, sounds intriguing.

Trycolour is the most amazing song on this album by far, City Girl a close second. Hayley's vocal ability is so astounding that my first listen through of the album on full blast literally gave me chills.

Reminds me of The National with a female singer. [2]

Sorry SP. It seems Canada & Australia have more things in common than I thought.

xfearbefore, it's actually an interesting point you raise. This band could very well appeal to both younger & older audiences. My guess is your mum likes the vocals, although I would have thought there may be too much going on musically. There's also a slight country twang here & there which she might be attracted to. It's not much though, as I personally dislike country music.

LOL Kiran The Travelling Man. Do you often carry around large paper bags when you pick up women?

Thanntos, stop making me feel guilty for excluding Trycolour from my top 5 tracks. On my 1st listen to the album, it was probably #3. But Horsehead, Prisoner & especially Deep Wide Ocean grew on me more.

Scoot, I'd say they are more indie-rock than indie-pop now. Their 1st EP was probably their only indie-pop release.

In Butkuiss' review, I said it reminded me of Kate Bush fronting The National or Tori Amos fronting Arcade Fire.

Good to hear Cris... Bad to hear WildOrWhat.

And no FC, I've gone for 13 a few times before when I think a band has their own sound. I don't think I've gonme more than 13 though. Lucky for some.

I have finally found out why I don't feel the need to write reviews any more...

You keep raising the bar for the standard of quality for reviews...

I take back my skepticism over the replay value of this album. I can see myself listening to it for years and years.

Long Highway is up there with Master of Art for best vocal performance of the year. SO fucking good.
