Here comes the inevitable:



Blackwater Park > Still Life > MAYH > Morningrise > Ghost Reveries > Damnation > Deliverance > Watershed > Orchid (which to be fair always gets lumped at the bottom...I need to listen to it more thoroughly)



And for shits...



1. Coil - I like that they decided to be all innovative and use the ever-elusive "woman" device of singing. Points for that but it's just an intro. A good one, but an intro.



2. Heir Apparent - Vintage Opeth. Best song on the album easily.



3. The Lotus Eater - Beginning is fierce, but it loses a little steam towards the middle. Still one of the better tracks.



4. Burden - It's a solid accessible prog ballad with an organ solo. Yup.



5. Porcelain Heart - This just sounds like an Opeth cover band mimicking Opeth.



6. Hessian Peel - It's a bit long but the off-kilter acoustic atmospheres contrast well with the jarring death metal assaulted climax.



7. Hex Omega - This track is a huge buzzkill. Excellent opening riff but then it really seems to me like they were just like "Fuck it let's finish the record and get hammered."



That said i'm still and Opeth fanboy and Watershed is still a 3.5.

5 songs on BwP are better than every song on Watershed. There's just no way that Watershed is objectively better than Blackwater Park.

Opeth in essence is the most overrated band of all time. Along with Emperor and Immortal.

Na Immortal because they flat out suck. Early Mayhem is good. And I hate Emperor sans Nightside.
