I dunno, I've never been a huge fan but I thought Personal Journals was pretty good. I do think he's overrated though, bc that's basically the only thing of his I really like.

it seems like my sentiment is shared by most here, but not all. If you liked his last one then maybe give this a shot, but I don't think it's even as good as Human the Death Dance, and I wasn't the biggest fan of that at all.

Not all of this is bad. Between Slow Man, I Was Zero, Poltzietgiest and Best of Times there are some pretty good, bordering on excellent, tracks. Being a pretty big sage fan though, this album was definitely a bit of a disappointment.

I don't know if I listened to a different album than the majority of people here or what, but this album was amazing to me. I feel production wise its the best hes had as a whole on a single album. Solid beats with solid lyrics make for solid songs, and thats what I judge, the song as a whole. While it may not be the greatest display of his word play or lyricism the end result is enjoyable music. I give it a 4.5, great album.

lol, not sage, I just honestly really like the album. The production as a whole has the feel similar to a gnarles barkley album to me. Something tells me people are disliking this album because it's not what they expected, but in time it will grow on them.

hmm, perhaps. it's an interesting perspective for sure, I never thought Gnarls Barkley when listening to this, but I love me some Gnarls.

this is really starting to grow, i think what is disappointing a lot of people (including me on the first listen or few) is there is way less emphasis on the lyrics, and more on the instrumentals, whereas past sage albums have been more straight poetry.

yeah, the beats are what keeps this album above a 1.5 or 2, although even the production gets a little boring/repetitive at times which is what keeps this from a 3 rating, for me.

This really isn't that bad if you have an open mind when approaching it. "Little Houdini" and "Best of Times" are absolutely ill tracks either way.

Although PJ is the only album of his solo stuff that deserves a 4, check out Non-Prophets which is a side project of his with Joe Beats.
