'the grandest combination of illogical passages' what's that supposed to be? doppelganger and
manipulator are full of songs that all of a sudden change their musical direction. i think it's a
totally diverse record with regard to the different musical styles and creativity. not to mention how
technically brilliant these dudes play their instruments. by the way: what's wrong with thomas'
singing? he has a very unique style maybe, but he hits every note and the screaming is sick as hell. i
don't get it

^^ everyone knows "unique" really means ugly or bad and NO he does NOT hit every note. Like many have said, he has no edge to his voice that complements the heavier music and he's not tuneful enough as a pop singer. Problem is, like in Manipulator his vocals are loud and are mixed over the band, not behind it, and it should NOT be the focal point of their records. It's kinsa like Erak is that shreiky prototypical American Idol contestant where everyone tells them they're great when they're really not, so they have this false sense of accomplishment that doesn't reflect the reality. He's singing in a style he can't do properly, plain and simple. Basically take Claudio and Cedric, put them together, then smoke 20 packs of cigarettes and you've got Thomas Erak's singing potential

Sure, okay, The Fall of Troy are maturing as a band. I have no problem with that, nor do I care that there is less screaming or heavy moments. The problem I have with the new material is that they don't pull off the style they're trying to play, and it's almost unlistenable at points. They could have turned into a bluesgrass trio for all I care, and if they did it well i'd be more than happy with it.
Progress, mature, change, do whatever the fuck you want Thomas Erak, but don't compromise the quality of music you're producing.

well i disagree that unique automatically means ugly/bad. anthony green in circa survive, the guy from coheed&cambria. that's what i call unique. whatever, i'm gonna buy this anyways ^^

I really like the first 3 songs, but the middle of the album gets really boring. This is at least a 3 for me, though.

Begs the question, "where are they going with this?"
|

Matte is right, first three songs are bomb. they should have written a bunch more just like those and ended the album with a long, epic, slightly stalker-ish song they always did before.
and what the fuck was he thinking writing lyrics like this... at some points i almost feel embarrassed for andrew and frank coz thom makes the band look so fucking retarded on this album. i miss when this band was awesome...
