good review, but I didn't catch you saying anything about clean vocals. did they kick 'em out of the album, or did I miss something? great review nonetheless.

I'm pretty sure I stated that the only clean vocals on the album were those contributed by Devin and Ryan on Mountain of Souls and the title track didn't I?
Oh poo, missed the "only" part of that sentece...fixingThis Message Edited On 11.26.08

imo, Terminate Damnation is the greatest metal album of all time. Maybe it is because it was my first.
You cant compare to the 11 minute epic "elegy". I wish they would do one of those on every cd.
Physics of Fire was horrible. I haven't got this one yet. The jazz part in whatever song it is is horrible. Psuedo-BTBAM, but it didn't work. And BTBAM is one of my favorites...

I wouldn't say Physics Of Fire was horrible, just a little lacking...
|

the album cover is also a depiction of the main character unless I'm mistaken
Nope it's "the Head" from That Hideous Strength. If you're planning on reading them then saying any more about "the Head" would spoil it.
Listening back through their other albums I like Physics of Fire better o__o

I'm definitely going to read those books now they seem highly interesting...I love Lewis' other work so yeah
|

I meant I like POF better than TD... this definitely beats POF but I miss the long progressive instrumental passages.
Yeah those are some of my favorite books of all time. Everyone I recommend them to is like "eeehhhh I didn't really like Narnia doesn't that guy write kids' books?" and I have a hard time convincing them that these are 100% for an older audience and contain a surprising amount of swearing for a Christian book.

Haha I'm not a huge fan of the Narnia books but his other works like Mere Christianity are wonderful reads
|

Definitely, CS Lewis is my favorite author because of the space trilogy, Mere Christianity, and Screwtape Letters. You need to read A Grief Observed if you haven't already. It was the journal he kept after his wife died and he published it anonymously, and then after he was dead or whatnot it was revealed that he wrote it. It's really amazing.
Anyway, I'm hoping this doesn't grow off of me. It's a great great album but I see it having more growing-off potential than their last albums :/
