Oh yeah, I know. I have the original on Vinyl as well as CD. I mainly bought this for the live DVD and demos but the revamped sound is worth getting it again because the drums are crisper and the bass is sharp (Two big elements on this album).
I think the guitars sounded weak as well in the original release.
Is the sound of the guitars better in the reissue Trey?

Is the sound of the guitars better in the reissue Trey? Not really. Everything is crisper and clearer, but nothing is really heavier... I guess the real question would be: What was your initial problem with the guitar sound?

This is the first Fates Warning album that's really done anything for me.

And prolly their best. A guy I know from work who's like 40 would say their best is No Exit. I like this better though.

I like Parallels a lot too, but this is just as epic.

And prolly their best. A guy I know from work who's like 40 would say their best is No Exit. I like this better though. No Exit is held a little too high IMO. Awaken the Guardian is just as heavy as No Exit, but the songs are infinitely better. Most the jizz comes from the 20 minute track (or whatever it is) "The Ivory Gate of Dreams" but if nobody told you it was one long song, you'd never know. It doesn't flow at all.
I like Parallels a lot too, but this is just as epic. I wouldn't call Parallels epic at all, but it's awesome. It was my introduction to this band.
