I'm just curious...are most albums within the genre like this? As far as the instruments go that is.

The original Catch 22 was more or less an experimental album. Peter wanted to use NU-metal influences (like Slipknot) and mix it with his melo-death. That's what I have heard about the album, I think I red it in an interview with the bassist or something, can't remember.

I might be in minority here, but I think the original Catch 22 is so much better. The remaster sounds like Peter was "trying to make it sound like a Hypocrisy album", which is precisely why it fails. Catch 22 circa 2002 may not be Hypocrisy's best, but it is a great record on its own. Then again, I found ALL of Megadeth's remixed/remastered records to be unnecessary, EVEN Killing...I generally tend to go with the original. It has the hunger, the aggression and the memories of my first contact with it that I don't get when listening to the remakes/remasters. Call me weird.

Furthermore, again, in minority here, but the Catch 22 remaster sounds horrible. The problem is especially with that treble clicking sound present on every song. The original is raw and the production is more in your face, without annoying clicks.

I prefer the original over this. The sound of the original mix suits this so much better. Not a big fan of this album anyway but I'd recommend the original mix to anyone interested in getting a taste of this particular era of hypocrisy
