@throneofagony

i agree, purple definitely stands out as their top achievement and it's one of my favourite albums from the nineties; but it was after a few listenings that i started to appreciate tiny music;in the very beginning it seemed totally powerless and a bit boring to me too, but then it started to catch fire; i love this fusion of wheezing distortions and soft harmonies; not to mention the maturity of arrangements; only stp can make it this way; tiny is albo their last even album for me; starting from no 4 their releases lost a consistency, some killers along with many misses; still i love this band

The second half of this album is when STP peaked for me. Nothing sounded as good going backwards or forwards in their catalog. Hold me closer, let me be!

I prefer Purple, but this and Core are pretty much tied. Their later stuff is a waste of time probably though.

I like some tracks off of No.4 and like 1 or 2 off of the s/t, but yeah I'd say this is their last great record

I loved this band and album back in the day but STP are definitely the least timeless of the 90s rock crowd

Purple is timeless for me because it didn't seem to fit in as grunge at the time. Something like Dirt by AIC, as good as it is, definitely feels more rooted in the 90's. Purple along with Superunkown come across as probably the least 90's, I could imagine Led Zeppelin covering both albums no problem in their heyday (with a few reasonable adjustments lol)

This album is a weird one, love the atmosphere of songs like Adhesive, And So I Know and Seven Caged Tigers. More psychedelia here which aligns this more with Jane's Addiction/Porno for Pyros

The tunes on this are miles better than those on core.

Core along with Sixteen Stone by Bush are probably two of the most dated grunge albums

this was the start of their massive decline.....even the diehard fans only enjoyed this for about 3 months

Core aligned itself to AIC/Pearl Jam

Purple more Led Zeppelin/Janes Addiction

Tiny Music more Porno for Pyros/Beatles
