I need to listen to this album a few more times before i make any lasting opinions. I agree that all the tracks are good but basically indistinguishable. Solid effort though.

They are very proficient at their sound, but I just find this and Miasma to be less inspired. The difference is in the riffs...there are only a couple on this that grab me and make me want to rock out. It's well executed, it just doesn't grab me. And I have to disagree with everyone on the vocals, they have become more annoying...and the low voice, which was the one I liked better, is less impressive...and not used nearly enough.
And - as a general complaint - no one has a really distinctive production anymore: you've heard one over-triggered drum kit, you've heard them all.

Is it me, or are there minor Black Metal influences in this...it seems a lot darker.

The thing I like about this band is that they really dont stray from their original sound. That being said, Im not surprised the solos havent changed. They may be simple, but I think they compliment the feel of the songs. I may be overdoing it by giving this cd a 5, but they just do not get old to me. As with all of their cds, you have to listen to them a few times to absorb it all. This is mostly due to the speed of the music. It can be hard for the ear/brain to keep up. Once you get it though, it sticks with you. They write extremely catchy riffs and Trevor is an amazing vocalist who can write some of the best horror themed lyrics. And despite the constant drummer changes, they always seem to get one that rips. I love this album along with the two previous full lengths, and I hope they continue in the direction that they have been going.

The only downside of this album for me was that it came out the same day as BTBAM. So i really never gave it a solid listen to weeks after. This is a excellent cd. the 5th and 9th song are really growing on me. I love the lyrics to the 10th song, great finnish.

I dunno, I prefer it to the new BTBAM, and the title track slays.

As for BTBAM, it was the opposite effect for me. This came out and I didnt really listen to it much. I did finally give it a few spins and I feel its a little over hyped. Its really good and diverse, but I thought Alaska and The Silent Circus were better. Whatever, all I know is I cant get enough of this cd.
So, how do you get that little quote box thingy that Ive been seeing so much?
