I was obsessed with this album for a good 5/6 years. It's not even my favorite death anymore but it is an ez 5. RIP Chuck

TO ASSUME FROM IGNORANCE

Haven't jammed this in years lmao, Death don't mean to me what they once did but I think I owe an obligatory run back through their discog. Aside from Nile and maybe Fleshgod they were the first death metal band I ever got into and definitely molded my desire for progressive tendencies in DM.

I'm with you Dedes bro. I don't jam this band nearly as much as I used to say a decade ago but I still love them.

I think that's just to be expected (sadly?), no matter how good a song/album/band is, eventually the novelty does start to fade...

I barely listen to the bands I was in love with 10 - 20 years ago although I still definitely enjoy and admire them.

Yeah, this is a metal masterpiece. I do feel like it overshadows their other brilliant albums like Human and Individual Thought Patterns a bit, but it really is the peak of their musical evolution. There are so many amazing moments on this record.

I still listen to most of my fav bands from my young days. Enslaved, Devin Townsend, Neurosis, Extol, Miles Davis... IG I alway knew what's good and I'm a loyal man so :D. Some bands I used to listen to a lot did drop from my listening list though...

I'm one of those metalheads who found Death very late (mid to late 20s), but ever since I've been a fan.

Yeah I mostly listened to shit I listened to throughout my younger years - slightly after college

But I likewise have bands I never listen to anymore, like Between the Buried and Me

Well to be fair this band does fit that 'thinking man's metal' tag. I don't remember if it was a guy from Pelican or other Post-Metal band who said it but that tag suits a lot of metal acts because of their changing, slow-mid paced tempo combined with intricate melodies and complex songwritings. I definitely lean towads that kind of pensive state inducing metal
