This goes hard! Cry of Achilles is exactly how you should start an album like this. Got a soft spot for Peace is Broken and Farther Than the Sun too, great marriage of impressive musicianship and powerful hooks.

Definitely their best album, unusually consistent for Alter Bridge tbh.

relistened to this after a long while
surprised I never bumped up the rating for this, should've done so a long time ago

Instrumentally this is their best hands down, but I never found it very memorable.

I mean, I don't think they'll ever top the song Blackbird at the very least lmao
here's hoping they do something different with this new album, though considering that they're working with Baskette again it has me a little worried

Neither, unfortunately. The first four songs are easily the ones that stuck with me the most; really got the feeling the whole band brought their A-game for this. I remember catching them soon after it dropped (co-headling with Shinedown funnily enough, who were kinda underwhelming and made the corniest rock n roll speech I have ever heard) and damn, these tracks made a bigger dent live

I find it ironic that Alter Bridge don't really play in larger venues because I feel like most of the tracks they make would be songs that would be perfect for a stadium or something

A lot of it probably has to do with the fact that they don't pander to the mainstream like so many of their contemporaries do

fair point I guess, even so seeing Alter Bridge in a arena/stadium would be kinda awesome to see imo

show I caught was in an arena, and it suited it every inch

I have no doubt they'd kill in an arena (as jotw confirmed). My point was more that they don't make the kind of music that I would think would sell out arenas in the first place (see instead: Shinedown, Breaking Benjamin, Seether, Nickelback), but I could be wrong. They're obviously more talented than any of those bands.

How large do you want? Youtube search "Alter Bridge live" and it brings up shows at Royal Albert Hall, The Palladium, Parque Olimpico, and Wembley Stadium.
To be fair though, they're arguably bigger outside North America than in because they're a lot better than the average buttrock band, and don't pander to the guns n god crowd.

I had no idea how they fare attendance wise with their shows, but I'm glad they do well. They deserve it.

This is a band that I think is very skilled, and the singer is fantastic, and the songwriting is great, but I don’t want to listen to them very often

They're currently on an arena tour across Europe and will likely fill every one of them. They're at least as big in Asia too.
And they absolutely do deserve it. I used to think Tremonti was a bit of a mook when the band started but the dude's commitment to improvement as a musician has completely won me over. I've always had nothing but respect for Myles Kennedy and he's straight up one of the best live vocalists I've ever seen. I've got him and Devin Townsend at the top of my list.

I need to see them live still. They just announced their North American tour today or yesterday on social media. I saw Tremonti live a couple of years ago in Nashville and that rocked ass. He played at the venue connected to Top Golf. Not a huge venue and it wasn’t packed out. It was a weekday though if I recall correctly.
