February MMX, Providence, and Island are the highlights & 3 of the band's best songs. Album is so underrated, easily in the best 50 of the decade.

I love this album but can't understand the purpose of Norwegian Gothic. It's not even a decent song imo.

you need to stop looking at pieces of the pie without the whole pie
it's not an album of singles
it's a singular PIECE
that's not cut into parts
a pie you eat whole
wars of the roses = WHOLE PIE

Budgie yes. That sounds incredibly smart actually. And it's also true.

Listening to Stone Angels right now, beautiful track that channels the peaceful, hypnotic beauty of David Sylvian imo
Realized today that this just makes my top 5 Ulver. My ranking would be Shadows of the Sun>Bergtatt>Perdition City>Nattens Madrigal>this

Nice! I love every second of this. Don't get the hate at all. I think many people haven't revisited this since its release.

Glad to see the love for this in the comments cause the low rating average still astounds me, especially considering Providence and Island are two of their best songs.

Yeah exactly! Island is my fave Ulver track I think. All of these have their own identity, yet it flows very nicely as a whole too. It's compact, diverse and charismatic. Some easier tracks, some more demanding ones and Stone Angels finishes it off perfectly.
And then Sput says yeah yeah yeah whatever, 3.3.
