Can I get some sauce for that because I’m not seeing that anywhere
Regardless I’m beyond excited. Greg Puciato was in the studio with him while recording.

My friend sent me a screencap from an AIC fan account post about Jerry’s brother saying it’s coming out in October. Not the most trustworthy source I’ll admit but that doesn’t seem too far-fetched

I would say that metal influences is pretty inherent in grunge music as a whole. This has a lot more metal than most grunge, but it still fits the bill.
"Of course is ugly if YOU ARE A FUCKING HIPSTER."
so true!

absolutely. and the more i dive into AiC the more i love his voice. the most incredible thing is how hard it hits out of the gate and how hard it manages to continue hitting the more you listen. reminds me of dave gahan, in that sense.
there's absolutely a gothic element to it too, and that's the aspect i'm most fascinated by. i was surprised to find that AiC were a seattle band because i always associate their sound with the southern gothic genre in particular.

They didn't sound like a Seattle band until after Dirt, IMO.
I admit I get way too wrapped up in who gets what genre tag, but AiC being billed a grunge band has always irked me.

Genre tags are weird in general.

They are just lazy, really.

For sure. Alice in Chains were definitely on the outer fringes of grunge compared to many of their contemporaries. In fact, you very rarely see any of the post-Staley albums even being labelled as grunge records... they usually have the sludge or doom tag instead

Country goth is an underrated genre yeah.

okay im glad im not the only person who thought AiC being under the grunge umbrella was odd
understandable, but odd
like there's no fucking way Dirt and Pearl Jam's Ten could be considered in the same genre
