Even as someone very left leaning and adjacent to RABM folks I just think most shit that's really explicit about its politics is bad, the politics are coming before the music. The best RABM is the stuff that isn't tripping over itself to deliver a political statement. Most of the nazi affiliated bands that are actually good mostly sing about other shit.

That's valid. I usually would rather go to punk for political statements and even THEN I'm still more drawn to the emo-punk scene.

Panopticon did it right. Austin has a whole host of songs about very personal topics and when he does gets political it's really earnest storytelling about the history of labor wars in Appalachia.

The new Crucifier sounds more GBK than the last GBK. Incredible album. Gelal doing guitars-

Yeah man everything they've put out rules. I've pretty much come to terms with separating art/artist long ago (it's a topic that comes up in film all the time); as bigoted/privileged/unsympathetic as that makes me seem I just don't have the time/energy/willingness to keep tabs on whose art I should/shouldn't be consuming based on an evolving and subjective moral compass. I just bury my head in the sand, gracefully absorb any backlash that gets thrown my way for being apathetic, pirate everything, and keep on keepin on.
