All time top QOTSA songs...I have never thought about it? I think quite a few would come from this album. If I had to choose 10 in no particular order I would say my favorites are.

I'm Designer

Into the Hollow

Tangled up in Plaid

Burn the Witch

First it Giveth

A Song For the Dead

Vampyre

Kalopsia

Fairweather Friends

I Appear Missing

the lack of noticeable guest appearances actually doesn't bother me at all. i like how they're there to add to the song, not say HEY IT'S ME LOOK I'M HELPING MAKE A QOTSA SONG IM FAAAAAAAMOUS.

they are subtle and don't draw focus away from the music.

unlike every fucking rapper who guest appears in ever other fucking rappers songs and has to say their name several times because they are so interchangable and forgettable they need to keep reminding you they're there

The influences of the band are very prominent on this record and done quite tastefully IMO.

Very much so, depending on staying power this is shaping out to be my favourite QOTSA record. Might 5 it, if it keeps its replay value.

don't think it'll ever overtake songs, mainly because i was younger when i heard that so it's had a greater impact, but it's definitely second

rated r is my favorite on paper but i've never really grown to love stuff like leg of lamb or monsters in the parasol as much as the rest of it
