So many highlights on this. Too bad that a couple of less-than-stellar cuts appear toward the end.

I think so. But I doubt too many will agree with us.

I think disc 3 is my favorite but disc 1 has higher highs
But yeah disc 4 is prob the worst, but Modern Love Stories is stellar

Masquerade is so fucking good tho

Never got round to listening to this whole thing. 90 mins of beach house seems a lot in one go

I would say do it in parts then, but it's honestly not that long compared to other albums

it is long indeed, no wonder the band released it in pieces
but it's got so many highlights it is definitely worth checking
I think these songs represent the culmination of what Victoria and Alex were after in their previous releases; it is less compact than the rest, but still what a treat!

I see it more as a double album - the first two parts making up Disc 1. It's cohesive, orchestral, and as Gabba said, representing a culmination of everything they've done in the past.
Whereas, Disc 2 is more varied, experimenting with a few different genres and styles, and has more distinct peaks.
Having said that, I feel like 17 of the 18 tracks have something new to add to the Beach House canon and the only song I could really see fitting seamlessly into any of their past albums is The Bells - still a good song, but more of a retread than a progression.
Honestly, I adore the album from start to finish. And Superstar is their greatest song of all time.

Towards the end (“Modern Love Stories” in particular) it shares quite some aesthetics with what Air did on their first couple of albums, e.g., on “Talkie Walkie”.

I'm more of an "Over and Over" person, its ending is majestic

Over and Over is an awkward one, probably the only highlight-worthy track where the lyrics are distractingly poor for my liking. Much better than than New Romance though -- that's the rough cutoff point where the whole album turns tepid, could never vibe with that chorus at all

the lyrics in "Over and Over" have a weird lullaby-like quality, you just need to (re)discover the child within

Oh wait lol whoops, was thinking of Only You Know. Over and Over is fine ig, bit bloated
