alright yeah I think I’m ready to call this their best record. It took me forever to appreciate In Her Shadow but its really incredible to me now, and Black Cloud through Heartless is the meanest stretch of bangers in their entire discog. First / Last Light is also probably my favorite opening song they’ve done. Which is really fucking saying something when they have tracks like Single Tear, Saddest Day, Aimless Arrow, and ofc Concubine
This and Jane are just so insanely mint. I wish I could’ve been around for some of the shows they were playing after this came out.

Out of all the scene shit I’ve loved over the years, Asking Alexandria are one of the ones I’ve never been able to do, outside of A Single Moment of Sincerity, and that one did not age well for me. All of their breakdowns are so goddamn boring

Even when I was younger and into stuff that was musically adjacent to AA, I thought they were trash

yeah they were always fucking terrible. if you really insist on listening to british scenecore just listen to BMTH.
I mean they fucking suck too but I can at least see the appeal.

I like how AA can mean Asking Alexandria or Attack Attack! and it more or less means the same thing

honestly I think I’d rather listen to attack attack. It seems like they at least had some sense of self awareness

"All of their breakdowns are so goddamn boring"
1000% this. I remember being like 15 and listening to them on the bus during a marching band trip to an away game or a competition, which I used to think AA were pretty dope, and I noticed that every song had to go into these shitty breakdowns and then they'd transition into a SLOWER DUMBER breakdown and I just realized they were actually garbage and went to complain to my friends about it lol.
