Aside from this, Devil is the only one I liked, and nowhere near as much. What's the new one like?

Devil is really the only other album I enjoy of theirs too. The new one is much poppier but with that somber Lydia quality to it. It's not necessarily bad but it's not good either IMO

Damn was really hoping it would be a continuation of Devil's sound, rip. Having said that y'all stop hating on This December

Only listened to This December once, didn't really stick out too much. Might give it another shot.

But somber and poppy is exactly how I'd describe Devil. Is the new album that much more poppy than it?

"but yeah the new one so far is pretty much Devil + electronic bs, it's not v good"

Pretty much this. It doesn't have the charm or intrigue of Devil and instead just feels watered down and littered with electronic shit that is so horrifically out of place. I've listened to the album a few times now and every time, I find myself forgetting the album is on and then suddenly it's over and when I eventually notice, I feel confused about whether or not I just listened to an entire Lydia album.

And I don't hate December but it doesn't have that special spark either

A quick and handy google would suggest it's a bonus track that was also featured on a Bamboozle comp
