Hmm, I started involuntarily humming PC tunes and feeling a need to play it again. That didn't happen

with Heritage and I was all ready to dismiss this one too.

Awkward.

I hummed the lotus eater once and a mate asked me what I was humming, to which I swiftly replied "progressive death

metal".

That sounded cooler in my head

might combine my fav tracks from Heritage and this to make the ultimate 70's Opeth record !

This definitely has more classic sounding Opeth moments than Heritage, if anything it's mainly the production that sounds 70's

It'd be funny if Jom wrote that review, isn't he working for pitchfork now?

"band actively coercing bits of jazz, Romanticism, blues, British folk, pop, and new age" - Show me the new age!

Romanticism? I don't hear any Wagner influence.

4.3 - "the band’s best work—that is, the core that made the awkwardness sufferable."

I really despise pitchfork reviews. You can really tell through the writing that they do this for a job, rather than doing it out of passion or fun. Also, the writing style is patronising and feels like it belittles me on the whole.
