Red has a consitent cycle of alternating between really crappy and really good albums. This is a crappy one.

mostly forgettable release from them
really hope they get more ambitious, that's usually when they're at their best

It's not nearly as terrible as RTP, but it's the most bland and sterile album they've released yet.

It's not offensively bad like Release the Panic, but it is awfully boring.
A lot of of these songs would probably sound good sandwiched in-between the harder and more energetic songs of previous albums, but they definitely don't sound very good strung together like this.
I would probably rate this as their second-worst album:
1. Innocence & Instinct
2. of Beauty and Rage
3. End of Silence
4. Until We Have Faces
5. Gone
6. Declaration
7. Rated R
8. Release the Panic

This gets worse with repeat listens. Just lurches forward for thirty minutes. No hooks. No nothing.

Forgot this even came out. I will say, Surrogates fucking goes. Curious to hear how the rest of the album pans out.

There's good songs on here. Just no flow. Merely a collection of potential singles, nothing deeper than the surface level.
