harmony and ravedeath are easily his best albums

the shade thrown on konoyo/anoyo here is inexcusable. Halfway into this and it definitely feels heavily influenced by those works vs his older stuff, almost like a percussion-less, smoothed over version of them. I dig it.

Were percussion and lack of smoothness not uhhhh kind of those albums' defining features

Nah, they had a specific songwriting style and means of attaining catharsis that I feel this album shares, just without those trappings attached to it. Also all of the non-percussive clanky-ness as you call it is pretty similar vs something like Virgins to my senses: those buzzy synths and warbly drones. Idk it sounds similar to me except this time it's BIG SAD in the melodies and the structures.
Anxiety is one of the better Tim Hecker songs after my first listen. Great stuff here.

aint no shade, his earlier stuff is just untouchable. will definitely be giving them a relisten though

Funny you mention catharsis, Ive always though that was sorta the key to why I dig virgins but not much of the stuff after (barring this ig??? Damn). I miss that aggression, it makes the crazy artdissonance n whatnot make sense to my brain in a way that anoyo doesn't really at all
Agreed anxiety is awesome though my fave rn is def monotony, I think whatever place this does ultimately find in my heart will owe a lot to that'n

Weirdly think “Total Garbage” may be my fave here, that one is quite haunting.

This is amazing for sure. But like with any Hecker, I’m gonna have to listen to it a lot to decide how it stacks up to his other stuff. Not complaining though. I basically never get tired of any of his albums.

Wow, is this all? Either dude lost all his talent or he's just fooling around. I won't pretend to enjoy this like the rest of his fanbase cause I'm not loyal, I'm realistic. After listening to this I have to cleanse my ears, it was muddy and way too easy of a listening session, so I'll go listen to his 3rd best album, Ultramarin, to stimulate my brain with actual ambient genius.

Haunt Me and Radio Amor*

I like Harmony best, then prob Haunt over Konoyo. Definitely liked this a lot too. And I really like that Ultramarin album too, though it’s been forever
|
| |
Yeah listening to ultramarin again and loving it
|
| |
Uff, Ultramarin is so underrated. I'd kill for another Tim Hecker techno release.
