yeah, this is such an interesting and weirdly digestible / smooth on the way down album, despite all the anti-pop tangents it meshes really well, I find
I dig the folkier bents too, hmm this shakes things up late in the day, for sure

This would’ve most likely have been in the running had I encountered it earlier, as things stand it probably won’t be ballot-worthy due to the lateness…
I might change my mind, depending on how late I dare submit the thing

Wow this thing is nuts

Just getting around to this now. Pretty awesome indeed
As far as everyone feeling it's disjointed - well...it's a vibe? I hate myself for that

Became more cohesive each listen for me today.

I can't be the only one who keeps reading this as Sasha Grey

yeah, I don't find the scattergun approach obnoxious, which is perhaps a testament to the quality of the individual cuts, tied together by superb production. Saya really sells the package. I don't find myself being frustrated by the song-writing choices, if anything this is refreshing.

@heck
I’ve been waiting for this comment. Kept reading it that way at first too. Had forgotten all about her and was like 🤨

this is not the place for smut, get your dirty minds outta here!
(also, would gladly sacrifice the 'works' of one Sasha for this Saya, probably)
|
| |
I’d make the same sacrifice. Not a fan of smut. This music, however, i can get down to this

good stuff
not sure I can say the same, this represents a 'higher quality' product relative to their respective fields, so it would be an easy decision, lol (damn it, got dragged into discussing this - shameful)

this is really good and I'm sad I overlooked it earlier in the year

Is this as good as her and pigs That's the Way I Like It cover?

This album is such a treat front to back. I found a floorboard, saving grace, sadness residue, seedless fruits, and if there’s no seat are among my favourite tracks of the year

When the chorus in sadness residue hits for the second time

Ah, “floorboard”. I love recommending people this album: I tell them, “see if you like it after twenty seconds.”

There are a few tracks on here that reminded me of other artists. Going right back to sadness residue - that entire end bit reminds me a lot of Sufjan Stevens.
Side note: played this the other night while making dinner for me and my lady and she had little to say about it, except that empathy 4 bethany is a cringe song and the album is “meh” lol. Oh well, you win some you lose some
